Ordinary Time 2016

pastarchives

There are several seasons during the Liturgical Year: AdventChristmas, Lent and Easter. For the other Sundays of the year we celebrate Ordinary Time.

This year Ordinary Time began on Monday, 11 January 2016, immediately after the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. This period lasted until Ash Wednesday – 10 February – when we began the season of Lent.

We then had the Easter season and, earlier in June, we ‘returned’ to Ordinary Time in June.

As Christians – followers of Christ through our Baptism – we are called on to make Christ present in our own lives and in the lives of others.

As we read the Sacred Scripture during the different seasons of the Liturgical Year may we pray in our hearts:

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love.
