“How many of you pray for persecuted Christians?” – Pope Francis

The SMA Communications Office has, for the past two years, reported on the targeting of Christian communities in northern Nigeria and throughout the world. During March 2017 the Holy Father, Pope Francis, as part of his worldwide prayer network, asks that persecuted Christians may be supported by the prayers and material help of the whole Church.

The Society of African Missions invites all of our associates, confreres, friends and families to unite with Pope Francis in remembering vulnerable Christian communities who risk their lives every day for no other reason than they profess Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

In this month’s ‘The Pope Video’, entitled ‘Help persecuted Christians’, the Holy Father states:

“How many people are being persecuted because of their faith, forced to abandon their homes, their places of worship, their lands, their loved ones!
They are persecuted and killed because they are Christians. Those who persecute them make no distinction between the religious communities to which they belong.
I ask you: how many of you pray for persecuted Christians?
Do it with me, that they may be supported by the prayers and material help of all the Churches and communities.”
