New SMA Climate Justice Video

We pollute…. others pay!

The Society of African Missions has made Climate Justice an integral part of our mission. As missionaries, we have observed the consequences of climate change upon the continent of Africa in ways that have a devastating impact on the lives of the poor and most vulnerable. Consequently, as a missionary congregation, we have committed to raising awareness about our collective responsibility to caring for the Earth and all its people. Our aim is to make people in Ireland and the Western World aware of the effect our lifestyles are having on the lives of people across the globe.

The SMA Thumb Print Campaign for Climate Justice is a unique initiative we are bringing to schools, parishes and families throughout Ireland.

Our latest video, narrated by 9-year-old Emma Cahill from St. Joseph’s National School, Macroom, Co. Cork, is an introduction to the SMA Thumbprint Campaign.  It is beautifully summed up by Emma when she states: “The contribution that you can make to climate justice is as unique as your thumbprint – only you can make it. You can make a difference! The choices you make matter. Make your mark on climate change.”
