Pan-African meeting on Small Christian Communities, Nairobi, Kenya

Fr. Don Bosco Onyalla, writing for CANAA, reports from Nairobi, Kenya, on the most recent Pan-African meeting on Small Christian Communities (SCCs) hosted by the Holy Ghost Fathers from 21 – 25 October 2016.

Participants at the meeting expressed the hope that African Bishops’ conferences will develop guidelines on SCCs across the continent.

The meeting, the third since 2014, recommended the formation of a steering committee to spearhead the networking of SCCs throughout Africa and beyond, including the writing of articles on SCCs, and a theological appraisal of Small Christian Communities in the modern world.

The meeting also committed to annual Pan-African gatherings to facilitate networking, and the sharing of “best practices through social media and the Internet.”
