Senator Rónán Mullen launches book on Irish missionaries

legacy-of-irish-missionaries-lives-onThe Legacy of Irish Missionaries Lives On is a new book exploring how the legacy of Irish missionaries is being continued in Africa, Asia, and South America. It was launched by Senator Rónán Mullen on Wednesday, 19 October 2016. Read his comments here.

Written by Matt Moran it has a Foreword penned by former President Mary Robinson recommending it.

It is sponsored by the Irish Missionary Union and Trocaire, it is published by OnStream Publications Cork. All profits from the book will go to World Mission Ireland for missionary activity on global south.

It costs €15 and Veritas and many other good bookshops are stocking it. It is well worth buying – particularly as a Christmas present – and the profit goes to support a mission project. Can also be bought online at

In a series of articles and reflections from across four continents, missionaries, leaders of church and state, diplomats, documentary-makers, journalists, development consultants, academics, as well as some beneficiaries of the work of missionaries including a tribal chief in Nigeria recount their personal testimony of the influence of Irish missionaries [many now deceased] had on them or their ‘world’.
