SMA Wilton Parish celebrates 2 good men: Fr Colum & Gerry McNamara.

Fr Colum O’Shea SMA celebrates his birthday

Fr. Colum O’Shea SMA celebrates his 70th birthday with a cake provided by the staff of the SMA Parish Centre, Wilton, Cork, on Monday 6 February 2017.  Fr Colum, who has spent most of his missionary life in Nigeria, working in formation and as superior of SMA House, Blackrock Road, has recently joined the parish team at St. Joseph’s (SMA) Wilton Parish.

In the second picture Colum is joined by Gerry McNamara, brother of SMA missionary Fr. Tom McNamara.  Both Colum and Gerry began their schooling together at Crab Lane National School on the same day many years ago.  Gerry has been involved in the parish in Wilton for many years, as a lay reader and in helping with parish finances.  He started, and still runs, the Bingo sessions in the parish hall for over 30 years ago.

We thank God for the gift of both men to the life of our parish and we wish them many more fruitful years ahead.

Fr. Michael O’Leary SMA
